Join The NEW Empowerment Experiment

I received this surprising email this morning and wanted to share it with you. There’s a great video and call to action at the end of this post.

I hope you have heard this wonderful story about this family that took a public pledge to completely live off Black businesses for one year. Their sacrifice was covered all over the news (CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, PBS Newshour, CBS News, C-SPAN, front pages of USA Today, LA Times, Chicago Tribune).

This successful, suburban couple went without fresh food, couldn’t find clothes for their two and three year old daughters. This family made history, and touched millions. It was called The Empowerment Experiment. But the community is still struggling, and Black businesses are dying off. So even though they have given enough, they are not giving up.

IN THE NEXT YEAR, WE WANT TO UNITE ONE MILLION CONSUMERS FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.

WE CALL IT THE NEW EMPOWERMENT EXPERIMENT (EE).

The NEW EE is led by the mother in the family, Maggie Anderson. She wrote the book, “Our Black Year” (see www.OurBlackYear.com), and has dedicated her life to trying to economically empower her community. I want you to look at a recent speech she gave to a global audience about her year, and why all people should support Black businesses. It was awesome. Made me cry!

Sincerely,
Andre Hughes

3 THINGS YOU CAN DO TODAY!

  1. Attend the online NEW Empowerment Experiment conference today at 7:30pm EST
  2. Make the choice to buy from a black-owned business today!  I’m not talking about radical change. Just one purchase out of several you are likely to make today.
  3. Become more conscious of how you buy. Understanding is the beginning of change.

I hope you join the call this evening. Thank you for believing in the power of communities.

Sherry
