The Word: Morningstar

Words intrigue me.  Especially when and how they are used. Recently, I noticed an email address that contained the word “morningstar”.  It piqued my curiosity and I wondered about the meaning and symbolism of the word.

Morningstar is a noun that means a bright planet, especially Venus, when visible in the east before sunrise. Even more interesting — historically ‘morningstar’ referred to a club with a heavy spiked head, sometimes attached to the handle by a chain.

So there you have it, a word that refers to a star and something that would make you see stars.
