The Truth About Self-Motivation


This is a fascinating talk about self-motivation and how it is not the lynch pin to success we have been taught to believe. The key to really making things happen and changing our lives is decision making. Most importantly, taking quick action once a decision is made.

This realization lead Mel Robbins to coordinate research and ultimately write a book on the 5 second rule.  Our minds are designed to avoid anything which might hurt us, so the habit we have to hesitate is in fact a self-preservation instinct.  The trick is to act before the brain can initiate this self-protection tactic.

Depending on your perspective, it may be a relief or a daunting realization to know we are all one decision away from changing our lives.
